Getting to Baltimore

Federal Per Diem Rates for Baltimore, Maryland

For planning purposes, the federal per diem rate for the city of Baltimore is $148 per night plus 12.5 percent sales tax for lodging and $59 per day for meals and incidentals.

Stipend for Lodging

Lodging for pre-approved EPA RPMs and pre-approved designated instructors staying at the host hotel is paid by EPA Headquarters. All NARPM participants must have approved travel authorizations.

The available nights that EPA Headquarters will pay for EPA RPM lodging are Sunday, May 20 through Thursday, May 24, 2007; and by Headquarters approval, for the night of Friday, May 25, 2007.

E-mail requests for Friday night coverage must be sent by e-mail to Gary Turner, at turner.gary@epa.gov no later than May 4, 2007. E-mail requests should include a brief explanation why your Friday night should be included on the master bill and "Friday" in the subject line. You will be notified by Gary Turner if your request for EPA to pay lodging costs for Friday night has been approved.

Stipend for Meals

Lunch will be provided during two EPA business luncheons on Monday, May 21 and Wednesday, May 23, 2007. Remember to deduct $16 for Monday and Wednesday from your expense report if you attend the two luncheons.

What to Pack for the Baltimore Area

Dress is casual for Baltimore in the spring. Average temperatures in May range from about 80°F during the day to a low of 60°F at night. Please be advised that the temperatures in the training areas do not reflect the temperatures outside. Be sure to pack a light jacket or sweater to wear while attending sessions occurring during the week.

Travel by Air

The Baltimore area is served by Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI), Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). For convenience, fly to BWI for its close proximity to the Radisson Plaza Lord Baltimore Hotel and the Sheraton Baltimore City Center Hotel.
